Washington State University Extension Master Gardener volunteers, founders of the nationally and internationally acclaimed Master Gardener movement, have been serving residents of Washington since 1973. WSU Extension Master Gardeners are university-trained volunteers who provide “the face of Washington State University” across our state. As such, they provide research-based information about gardening, environmental stewardship, and horticulture topics to individuals and communities within each of Washington’s 39 counties.
This manual provides answers to common programmatic questions for WSU Extension faculty, staff, and Master Gardener volunteer leaders. Specific program requirements vary slightly by county, so local WSU Extension educators or program coordinators may have additional guidelines or policies.
