This report evaluates the motivations, impacts, and challenges faced by the farms in Washington as they relate to agritourism. We characterize agritourism entrepreneurship activities in 26 different counties of the state through a direct survey of farmers in the industry. Farmers surveyed indicated that the primary reasons for including agritourism in their farm operations were to earn additional income and educate the local populace regarding agricultural and local activities. Respondents felt that the main obstacles to success in the industry are state laws and regulations, land use and zoning rules, lack of time, and concerns about liability.
