The Affordable Care Act has begun to change how we access health care and insurance in the US. One of these changes is the “employer mandate,” which went into effect in 2016. The employer mandate requires certain businesses to provide health insurance for their employees. In industries like agriculture, which rely heavily on seasonal and part-time workers, the impact of the employer mandate is uncertain. This publication outlines the results of a survey conducted prior to the implementation of the employer mandate to gain insight into how agricultural firms in Washington State might respond.
